Placement on the Yosemite Community College District salary schedule dependent upon education and experience. 2023-2024 Salary Schedule – $66,367 to $123,891 per year, plus an annual $2,789 stipend for an earned doctorate. New personnel limited to a maximum tenth step initial placement based on previous experience – maximum equals $103,027.

Vision care and dental insurance premiums for the employee and dependents is District paid. Income protection and life insurance premiums for the employee are also District paid. Job Description Summary
All full-time faculty are expected to participate actively in their disciplines, department activities, and the general intellectual life and governance of the college. Part of the teaching assignment may be online, in the evening, and/or on Saturdays. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    • Teaching physical, cultural, economic, and work regionally geography
    • Teaching assigned courses using the course content stated in the approved course outlines of record and in a manner consistent with the college standards. Assignments may include offerings in the day, evening, or non-traditional (e.g., off-site or Saturday) time slots and/or distance education.
    • Maintaining expertise in current teaching and learning methods and developing new instructional materials and techniques to meet students’ changing needs.
    • Maintaining state-of-the-art knowledge in the field of study through professional organizations and/or other research and staff development opportunities.
    • Posting and holding regular office hours by prevailing contractual obligations.
    • Participating in curriculum and degree development, evaluation, and revision, including assessing student learning outcomes and Course Outline of Record.
    • Collaborating in the development and revision of curriculum and program review.
    • Collaborating with faculty and staff to enhance instruction, curriculum, and student success.
    • Collaborating with faculty and staff to enhance Geography Department programmatic events and outreach to students and the community.
    • Assisting in special projects related to the School of Behavioral and Social Sciences.
    • Engaging in the college’s participatory governance processes.
    • Working to support marginalized students, especially in collaboration with instructional support programs, such as Umoja and Puente.
    • Performing other duties as required by contract and general institutional needs promptly.
    • Advancing equitable student learning through dedicated, exemplary instruction by established course outlines.
    • Informing students of course requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance requirements.
    • Preparing and grading class assignments and examinations and informing students of their academic progress.
    • Maintaining attendance, scholastic, and other records and submitting them according to published policies and deadlines.
    • Attending department, division, and college-wide meetings regularly.
    • Developing, implementing, and assessing student-learning outcomes for courses and programs and using the results for improvement.
    • Engaging in data inquiry and self-assessment to develop strategies for student course success, persistence, equity, and program completion.
    • Engaging in department program improvement initiatives.
    • Participating in professional development activities, both departmental and college-wide, especially connected to closing disproportionate impact gaps and improving completion goals.
    • Maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Mobility: ability to sit or stand for long periodsmove about an office, and reach above and below desk level.
  • Dexterity: fine manipulation sufficient to operate a keyboard, handle individual papers, write and take notes.
  • Lifting: occasional lifting of papers, files, equipment and material weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Visual Requirements: close vision sufficient to read files, documents, and computer screens and do close-up work; ability to adjust focus frequently.
  • Hearing/Talking: ability to hear normal speech, speak and hear on the telephone, and speak in person.
  • Emotional/Psychological Factors: ability to make decisions and concentrate; frequent contact with others including some public contact; frequent deadlines and time-limited assignments.
